SPOZ - THE MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK.. volume 2
yup.. here's another installment of fresh songs the spoz is buzzing on of late.. included as recent additions to his mp3 playlist hall of fame.. collect them all!
BOMB THE BASS - BUG POWDER DUST
a classic mid 90's psychedelic mashup of hiphop, grinding guitars and lo-fidelity stonerisms.. a favourite of Liam Howlett's (from the Prodigy), remixed by the Chemical Brothers, remixed by Kruder and Dorfmeister (twice!) and also quite possibly one of the most ridiculously hard to find cult classic songs of the 90's.. seriously.. who the FUCK are "Bomb the Bass"? where did they come from.. where did they disappear to? did they ever released an album? did they ever tour the world playing gigs? no.. likely on none of those accounts.. they got remixed and worshipped by every indie electronica fringe-dweller.. thrashed on the radio for a few years running.. and then, for all I know they simply vanished.. who knows the real story behind all this?.. did they all die in a freak plane crash? replaced by robots? killed by the millennium bug? suffice to say.. just you try and find an original version of this song, ANYWHERE.. nine times out've 10.. all you'll ever find is either a remix.. or that really teeny tiny snippet on Liam Howlett's DIRTCHAMBER mix cd.. yeah.. damn fucking thing.. anywaze.. after months of false leads.. I finally tracked down the original.. complete with the confusing voice sample bookends referencing drug abuse and eating giant brazilian centipedes.. I really dunno wot the hell this all means.. but.. the song's a classic.. gotta love that distorted lo-fi hiphop hybrid wackiness..
KAISER CHIEFS - EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU LESS AND LESS
annoyingly addictive these guys are.. I originally bought their album a few months ago after reading a really good review in Rolling Stone.. part of that whole new wave of britpop.. along with Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Kasabian.. etc.. etc.. (lets just forget the Libertines.. ok?).. and since I dig that other stuff.. I thought I'd give these guys a go.. on first listen the album just annoyed the piss out've me.. wot with all it's mindless shouting "NA NA NA" choruses and wacky british lout behaviour.. equal parts Ramones, Madness, Blur, early 60's Beatles.. instant wacky beer infected loud british party music.. a car crash of retarded fuzz pop soccer hooligan sounds and infectious cheesy melodies and synth bleeps.. yeah.. I wanted to hate it.. but this damn music is contagious like a freaking virus.. and before too long you can't get enough of the damn thing.. (buy the album.. give it a few months.. you'll know wot I mean..) this song was included mostly coz of the new video doing the rounds on RAGE and the other music channels.. coz it's got them freaking addictive hooting "NA NA NA" choruses and the wacky screaming (stupid but really effective).. and also coz those buzzing casio synths are so freaking cheesy they're cool.. yeah, this song rocks :)
