THE SPOZ TESTAMENT
no, the spoz has not gone strangely born again religious, the spoz is not studying theology, the spoz is however referring to himself in the 3rd person, spoz realises this may annoy the living shit out've his audience and will therefore stop dicking around with the red herrings and get on with wot'ever the fuck he's meant to be writing about in this ere blog.. yes, spoz considers this a good plan..
some people may be aware of a black folder, almost legendary in status, a select few remember it with almost religious furvour, others twitchy like crack addicts, like gollum gibbering nonsensicals in a cave, hope for just another glimpse of.. the black folder.. yes, THAT black folder, overloaded with plastic sleeves filled, with page after A4 page.. of.. the ART of spoz..
y'see.. back in the day, back last century.. spoz was an illustrator, quite a damn good one as most people would claim, but spoz would always disbelieving with the doubt and the teeth gnawing and the crazy ambition (and again with the 3rd person? sheeesh.. how big is MY ego?) eventually gave up such pursuits as pure madness.. and then chose to pursue something equally as mad - a career in electronic music and graphic design (and hey, that's working out GREAT ain't it? ;) )
I kept all of these illustrations, since records began in 1990, in an A4 black folder.. 150 illustrations in total, a visualisation of a crazy George Lucas / J.R.R. Tolkienesque twitchy LSD universe of eyeball head aliens, pot smoking psychedelic green bears, explosions, dark creepy forests, spaceships, wacky wacky adventures in space and time, wizards, lunatics with swords and machine guns, alien chicks with big gazunga's.. (as ya do)..
they've been in that musty old folder, since I ceased working on them mid 1997.. and there they've been left to rot, forgotten by the world, save for a few crazed fans (hi Wokka n Heidi!) who occassionally request copies to cover their walls with..
now, I've occassionally thought, recently, in the last year or so.. that maybe I could return to this craft, the illustrative craft.. usually only to realise what a gross waste of time it'd be.. or perceived lack of time thereof.. likely I'm just easily distracted.. either way, sooner or later.. I'm destined to return to this stuff.. coz hey, they were just too cool to look at after all the months work that went into them..
but in the meantime.. I've decided, I should archive all these artworks digitally.. scan them in at high print quality, colour adjust, crop, sharpen.. and save them, for future generations in a near to incorruptible form.. so, for all those of you, who remembered the black folder, and worried.. perhaps, it'd be lost to the ages.. worry no more.. soon they will be immortalised.. this will be one of the many things that hopefully will live beyond my years.. and annoy future generations for century's to come.. :)
