IDIOT IN A MUSIC STUDIO - PART 2.
as anyone who's a musician knows full well..
the key to any good song production is excessive laziness..
excessive laziness.. broken by occassional frenetic obssessive compulsive dementia..
and the procrastination is really KEY..
without the whole spacing out, staring into space and contemplating the universe..
all you're left with is some idiotic task master with a proverbial whip..
there is no schedule to genius..
especially when you're brand of genius, is disguising misguided insanity as such..
so.. as such, I've been a bit lazy about this whole thing last few days..
not like I'm in any kinda rush..
I like to take my time with these things in the beginning..
give it some air to breath, room to groove.. all that shit..
so, in the last few days I've sampled out the 2 main beats from the original sketch, and now (for the most part) I have them all happily chopped / filtered / ordered / plotted and sequenced into loop fragments.. into a singular "pattern" (or 2 bars of a song) which I call the "pallette".. kinda like the thing painters use to mix their colours.. is the same way I work a song.. get all the sounds loopin' nicely in one pattern, for mixing later..
so.. 2 beats are now ready to roll.. full of vicious propulsive energy,
definitely a lot more energy in this track than I expected to start with..
perhaps I should balance it with another 1 or 2 spacier beats..
maybe a cheesy signature AMEN BROTHER beat (anyone in the biz knows of this puppy)
also now begun adding all the rhythm elements..
working from the lowest bass rumbling octaves, up into the melodic frequencies..
build me up a wall of bouncing / reverbing / resonating chorus humming..
this is where the true experimentation comes from..
so.. gots to take ya time, really appreciate the insanity of wot ya doing..
no new preview as yet..
but, stay tuned later this week.. as this puppy develops..
