it's funny, this whole "downloadin' illegal MP3's file sharing" fiasco..
all the record companies are up in arms.. going beserk,
throwing lawsuits this way n that.. treating everyone like criminals..
I've been attempting to hunt down stuff by the band CURVE..
mostly their more nasty / electronic / dark stuff..
(part of this whole.. "ooo ooo! angry chick singing / electronica / doom rock" vibe I've been running with lately..)
after a bit of downloadin' thru KAZAA..
listening to a few "illegally downloaded" songs..
I finally pinpointed the album I wanted..
and of course, I wanted to do the nice thing for the musicians,
give 'em some bank for their efforts..
get me a nice trophy CD to buy, and chuck on me bookshelf..
a proud addition to my kickarse ninja CD collection..
so.. today, I went for a hunting for it..
wanted to buy the bastard..
I checked 7 record stores..
no sign of it on the shelves..
thought.. "oh sure, why don't I order it"..
went upto the counter.. the dude checked up on his computer..
"nope.. sorry, it's been deleted in Australia.. you can't get it here"..
so.. could I import it..?
"hmmmm.. there's only one place in Germany that can do it.."
I mean.. holy crap..
we get bitch slapped around by record companies for "stealing their music"..
when they don't even get off their arse and provide convenient ways for us NOT to steal it..
which is easier for me?
(a) wait weeks (likely months) whilst this CD shuffles by transit from Germany to here..
(b) with a bit of research, download and assemble the album within a few days (at most), using my ever so crappy 56k modem (imagine how fast I could do it with cable?)
yup.. something's a tad bit odd here..
