It's the old band-aid analogy..
you can either tear it off with one swift action,
or.. you can slowly and carely remove it to minimize pain..
with me.. I'd much rather tear the sucker off as quickly as possible..
so, keeping this in mind.. I'm working like a zombie on this
CD-ROM project, hoping to get it finished as quickly as possible..
(another 9 hours today.. another 66 pages worked thru..)
and for those wondering wot I'm on about..
here's some details..
my current work contract..
an educational CD-ROM - a chemistry practical manual (of sorts)
wot I'm working on.. is to format 400 or so pages (or source text)
into an organised / concise and vaguely neat visual form..
it's the most mindless of grunt work, coz.. every page
is mostly indistinguishable from the next.. all 400 of 'em..
a bit of the original text is a complete mess.. so, somehow,
all this.. after my work.. reaches a state of order..
I'll just be damn happy when it's over..
it feels like I only just finished the LAST mindnumbing 400 page
formatting job (which I finished officially sometime last week)
but pay's good.. so, who am I to argue? (gotta lurrve the temporary)
it's not about the journey.. it's all about the shiney final product
I'll have in it my hands, and put on my resume..
either way.. approx a 1/4 of it is done already..
so, soon this band-aid will be off..
and I can do wot'ever the fuck I want again!
