Wot the hell IS the point of the "commentary" feature on a DVD..??
sure, I know it's meant to be really really cool to have running commentary from the makers of the film.. showing you all the little secrets of the film 'n everything.. sounds bloody GREAT in theory..
but.. has anyone actually, like.. sat thru an entire film doing this?
no, I mean.. REALLY.. spent a good 2 hours (or 3) just sitting there..
I've tried it once or twice and it's the most stupid experience.. you're basically watching the movie with the volume down, while a bunch of people on voice over have a dinner party.. I think I lasted maybe 1/2 an hour at most.. till I realised I was wasting my life.. and switched the tv off..
you almost get the same feeling.. watching those "making of" documentaries they chuck on special editions... you waste an hour or so seeing HOW they made the film.. instead of actually WATCHING the film itself..
then of course the ultimate sterile experience.. looking thru the still images gallery.. no animations, no music.. just skipping thru photo's... (which look really tiny even on big tv), makes ya wonder.. "WHY THE HELL AM I DOING THIS??"
but, such a good idea in theory tho'... isn't it?
